Veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah recently pointed out celebrities who have entourages and said that they “can’t even hold their coffee cups” and are comparable to three-month-old toddlers. Ratna stated that she has observed the careers of some excellent actors being adversely damaged by this entourage industry in a conversation with Film Companion. When questioned by the same journal how entourages and vanity vans influence their profession, Bhumi Pednekar, who is currently promoting her film Bheed alongside Rajkummar Rao, responded to the statement.

Bhumi said, “I think that’s more about how disconnected you are from the world outside. I could be sitting on a chair in the middle of my set and still not speak to anybody, or I could be in my van which I use to get ready. Everybody’s views are respected but I feel that with every generation… It’s up to us how we want to stay connected with our craft, how we want to stay grounded.”
Bhumi Pednekar acknowledged the privilege of vanity vans that has been given upon her generation, saying that she feels “very fortunate that we have that kind of a space that maybe many people in earlier generations didn’t get.” “It is about creating a democratic environment around you, that’s what keeps you grounded,” she added.
During a conversation with Film Companion, where she appeared for the promotions of her recently released web series, Happy Family: Conditions Apply. The veteran actress Ratna Pathak candidly asserted, “I’ve seen actors on a plane, who won’t even ask for a cup of coffee. The coffee is brought by the assistant. The assistant opens the cup. Actor takes a sip and hands it back to the assistant. What are you? A 3-month-old child? Ki cup bhi nahi pakad sakte aap apna haath mai? Iss tarah ka dependence! Life is more than just this. I find that so dangerous!”
On the work front, Bhumi will be soon seen in films like Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, Ajay Bahl’s The Ladykiller, Sudhir Mishra’s Afwaa, Gauri Khan produced Bhakshak, Mudassar Aziz’s Mere Husband Ki Biwi and a couple of more unannounced projects that will push the bar for cinema.
