All The Jewellery Trends At London Fashion Week

While the clothes are often the biggest story on the catwalk, GLAMOUR spotted some incredible jewellery trends at London Fashion Week, which will make just as a big an impact on your outfits for spring / summer 2023 and beyond.

Accessories – whether a well chosen mini bag, updated winter boot or statement designer belt – all have huge power to change the mood of your look, despite their relative size. And as prices of everything are soaring, it makes most sense to get as much bang for your buck from your fashion purchases. The dreamy pieces we saw at the shows aren’t cheap, but they will offer you so many more ways to update your wardrobe than one dress, ever could. 

So, what are the biggest jewellery trends from London Fashion Week? As with all the moods we’re noting, there’s less of a herd mentality in fashion these days (major result) and designers are doing their own thing, which chimes with their own fans. Basically, it’s you do you and whether you’re a fan of punkish chains, day-glo plastics or the return of the belly chain (yep, it’s back) there are myriad options that will fit with any style. We’re here for it. 

As the models at Chopova Lowena stomped down the catwalk at a startling speed (seriously, it was almost a power walk workout) over the soundtrack of shouting teens at a lacrosse match, all we could hear was the jingle jangle of chains. On shoes, around wrists, encircling necks… Heavy, industrial chains fitted the subversive mood of the show and will make even your simplest LBD look edgy. Something a little more delicate is the welcome return of the belly chain. Chain belts have been trending recently but this Y2K staple is back in favour. Again, it will bring a flash of glamour to your most basic pieces and we have fallen hard for Nensi Dojaka’s pearl-dripping designs. At David Koma, another show where the jewellery aided the soundtrack, golden shells cascaded down the models necks and segued into body jewellery. 

Body jewellery is certainly having a moment and while what the fashion pack previewed at London Fashion Week, won’t reach the shops until 2023, there’s no harm in searching out preloved options right now. A pearl studded chain bra, as at Rejina Pyo, would make an excellent addition to any winter party outfits you have planned. 

Within fashion there often seems to be a sadistic side that means women sometimes suffer to look ‘good’ so we were thrilled to see the, frankly genius, invention of an earring headband at Halpern. One of our runway favourites for bringing the glamour to the shows there were leopard print mini dresses and sequins a-plenty all offset with door-knocker sized earrings (Pat Butcher could never.) But instead of dragging down the model’s ear-lobes the earrings were hung from super-narrow headbands that were woven under the model’s hair. We’re still thinking about it. 

I know we said there was nothing as out-dated as a trend at LFW but super-size jewellery is a thing rn. Poster Girl’s giant sea anemone-like rings offset the label’s clubby aesthetic in dayglo-style while Masha Popova’s neon bright earrings were equally obvious but were made from lightweight material that again, won’t weigh you down. 

All these super-sized, sparkling and individual jewellery trends at London Fashion Week have us drooling for the new season. But don’t let a date in the calendar stop you from getting involved and experimenting and updating your outfits right now.
