Right from Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor to Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar, several celebrities took the plunge and embarked on their matrimonial journeys this year. With celebrity weddings, we must add, comes a hearty dose of fashion inspiration. And this year, diva brides put forth a spectacular display of bridal finery with their impeccable sartorial choices.

While Alia embraced an unconventional ivory-and-gold Sabyasachi saree, Mouni exuded regalia in a heavily-embellished red lehenga by the same designer. South star Nayanthara looked like a vision to behold in a monotone red saree, and so did Hansika Motwani in a maximalist lehenga. ALIA BHATT

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor solemnised their love in an at-home wedding ceremony in April. For the intimate wedding celebrations, Alia made a note-worthy bridal fashion statement in an ivory-and-golden saree by celebrated fashion designer Sabyasachi. Yup, she ditched a red lehenga for her big day, and her contemporary yet traditional take on Indian bridal fashion was a refreshing delight.

Apart from the colour choice of her wedding ensemble, the personalised details all over it made the loudest noise. The actress got her blouse embroidered with butterfly motifs and even wore a personalised veil with a special line embroidered on it. “The fourteenth of April 2022,” it read. With minimal makeup, an assemblage of traditional jewels, personalised kaleeras and open hair, Alia completed her elegance-exuding bridal look.

MOUNI ROY

Actress Mouni Roy tied the knot with her beau Suraj Nambiar in a dreamy wedding ceremony in Goa on January 27. The diva’s wedding trousseau was an eclectic blend of traditional and unconventional outfits. For the wedding, however, Mouni took the traditional route and twirled around in a heavily-embellished red Sabyasachi lehenga with golden accents. She carried a double-dupatta look and rounded it off with contrasting diamond and emerald jewels.

For her Malayali-style wedding, Mouni made a stunning bride in a white silk saree adorned with a traditional red and golden border. She styled her wedding saree with exquisite temple gold jewellery crafted in pure 22-carat gold.

SHIBANI DANDEKAR

Shibani Dandekar, for her wedding with Farhan Akhtar, presented a whiff of freshness with her bridal finery. The diva wanted to rock a glamorous look and did so with a red custom-designed corset top with a voguish skirt and a floor-sweeping veil from the label Jade by Monica and Karishma. Her ensemble was handcrafted from special French Chantilly Lace by the designer duo’s master artisans in the signature Vermillion red palette.

NAYANTHARA

Nayanthara looked like a dreamy vision to behold in a vermilion-red saree for her intimate wedding ceremony with Vignesh Shivan in Mahabalipuram on June 9. The actress slipped into a regal red custom-creation from the label Jade by Monica and Karishma, replete with personalised details.

Her wedding look was a lesson in monotone dressing! The saree she wore was adorned with tone-on-tone embroidery and boasted of a full-length sleeved blouse and a matching veil as well. But, breaking the monotony of her all-red outfit was the ornate set of ogle-worthy emerald jewels.

KARISHMA TANNA

Karishma Tanna rocked a modern bridal look in a pastel pink lehenga for her wedding with longtime beau Varun Bangera. She glimmered in a sparkling creation from the label Falguni and Shane Peacock, which was swathed in sequin and other glitzy embellishments. The actress styled the voluminous lehenga skirt with a full-length sleeve blouse and a pair of matching sheer dupattas. Taking the contemporary appeal of her bridal glory were the pastel-hued jewels she wore.

HANSIKA MOTWANI

The wedding season of 2022 concluded on a regal note with actress Hansika Motwani’s queenly wedding wardrobe. While she oozed elegance in breathtaking ensembles throughout her wedding revelries, her ostentatious red lehenga by Rimple and Harpreet Narula was a lesson for every maximalist bride. After multiple consultations with the designers, the actress zeroed in on a stunning peacock motif derived from an archival Persian carpet to be the cornerstone of the design. Her lehenga panels were designed along with floral motifs and further enlivened with dabka, naqshi, sequin, pearls and semi-precious stones. Her ensemble was completed with a vintage Benarasi zari dupatta and a sheer tulle veil.
