Raksha Bandhan had a weaker than expected start at the box office on day 1 and dipped further on day 2. The advance booking was not promising to begin with and the lack of interest was evident from day one itself. ₹8.10 crore net opening which Akshay kumar and Bhumi Pednekar lead role sent shockwaves through the trade and film industry and the second day collection of 6.20 crore nett only added to the said shockwaves. If Raksha Bandhan had some hope of recovery, needed a big jump today, day 3, Saturday, August 13. Well, the growth hasn’t happened, but the film hasn’t tanked either, it’s just stagnant in theaters.
Raksha Bandhan cash collection day 3
Raksha Bandhan is another big ticket Bollywood biggie shaking up the entertainment news trade. At least a paltry jump of 15% was expected as per the tracking till the evening shows yesterday, but it was a flattering let down as the collections fell drastically towards the night. The film only brought in ₹6.40 crore nett, taking its total so far to a very disappointing ₹14.70 crore nett – far from enough after 3 days considering the budget and the lead. All eyes are now on Sunday and the big one Independence Day holiday on Monday to see whatever the film can salvage from here on out.
Raksha Bandhan continues to play in only a few centres…
The biggest problem plaguing the Aanand L Rai-directed Raksha Bandhan is that it has picked up only in a handful of mainstream belts like Gujarat, CI and Rajasthan, while other core Hindi belts like UP, MP, Bihar and Haryana continue to underperformed, and as far as high-end metros and multiplexes in other territories are concerned, the numbers continue to be almost non-existent for the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer.
