Earlier on Thursday, actor Akshay Kumar released a statement, apologising to his fans for endorsing a pan masala brand after his fans expressed their displeasure on the same. As it affected the people and Akshay received heavy backlash from netizens, Akshay mentioned that he has decided to step down from the endorsement. Well, now, reacting to Akshay’s apology to his fans and also the criticism for promoting the pan masala brand, Ajay Devgn said that it is a personal choice.

Talking about promoting such brands, Ajay said during recent promotions for his upcoming film Runway 34, “It is a personal choice,” adding, “When you do something, you also see how harmful it would be. Some things are harmful, some are not. I would say it without naming it because I don’t want to promote it; I was doing elaichi. What I feel is more than advertisements, if certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold.”

Talking about Akshay Kumar’s apology letter, the statement also mentioned that he will contribute the endorsement fee to a worthy cause. Furthermore, Kumar also mentioned that since the brand is going to continue airing due to the legal contract, he promises to be extremely mindful in making future choices.

On the other hand, Ajay has been associated with the pan masala brand for a while now whereas Shah Rukh Khan joined as the brand ambassador last year and the two even appeared in an ad together. It was only recently when we get to a teaser of the brand teasing Akshay’s entry as well. A follow-up ad, featuring Akshay, was aired a few days later which created a hue and cry on social media.
