Lately the TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma much debated. The TV show produced by Asit Modi is ruling the headlines and for all the wrong reasons. It started with Jennifer Mistry Baniswal, who played the role of Mrs. Sodhi accusing the producer of sexual harassment. She has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the makers. Asit Modi and team denied all the allegations calling Jennifer Mistry Bansival “undisciplined”. Later, Monica Bhadoria, who played the role of Bauri, opened up about her ordeal and claimed that Asit Modi threatened to ruin her career. Now Priya Ahuja, who played the role of Rita Reporter in the show, has spoken out.
Priya Ahuja aka Rita Reporter shares her ordeal
In an interview with Etimes, Priya Ahuja shared how the behavior of Asit Modi and the team changed after she married director Malav Raja. She alleged that she was subjected to unfair treatment and that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah artistes have to go through mental harassment. She said that after she married Malav, her footprints on the show were reduced and after he left the show, she had no idea about her song. Priya revealed that she had messaged Asit Modi quite a few times asking about her piece on the show and had not received a reply. She even sent a message to Sohil Ramani to get clarity about her role but the efforts went in vain. She further said, “Mujhe aap ne 9 months se show par nahi bulaya because your relationship with Malav is over and aapne uske baad mujhe makkhi ki tarah Nikal ke phek diya…”. She even claims to have heard that why should she work as Malav is winning. Priya Ahuja felt disrespected as despite working on the show for 14 years, she did not get any response from any creator for her song.
Is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah “male chauvinist”?
Jennifer Mistry Bansival even called the sets of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah “male chauvinist”. Priya Ahuja agreed to this. She said there was “100 percent” a “male chauvinist” attitude on set. She also expressed shock at Mandar Chandwarkar’s comments that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah set is a happy place and not male chauvinism. Priya Ahuja shared that she was surprised by his statements as he is very good friends with Jennifer.
Moreover, Priya Ahuja also spoke about Jennifer Mistry Baniswal and shared that she is not an abusive, undisciplined person. Rather, he called her “the sweetest” and “spiritual.” Priya Ahuja, however, also said she had no idea about the sexual harassment allegations made by Jennifer.
