African Fashion Creatives Converge in Ghana for The Editors Meet Brunch

On Monday January 2, 2023 Debonair Afrik in partnership with GH Mumm champagne, presented The Editors Meet Brunch 2023: De Renaissance of Disco to welcome the new year in style in Accra, Ghana. This annual fashion event brought together some of the top African and Diaspora fashion stakeholders to invest in a new landscape of creative talent in Africa through networking and the sharing of resources and tools.

A host of key fashion stakeholders, enthusiasts, and creatives stylishly decked in their disco best enjoyed an elaborate buffet brunch by Menscook , cocktails, afternoon tea bar from Dilmah Tea, and champagne courtesy of GH Mumm. Among those in attendance included Alexander Julien, Clara Pinkrah-Sam CEO and founder of Clatural, Selina Bebaako-Mensah, award winning designer Brommon, Sister Deborah, Mathew Osei – model and stylist and the 2022 Best Dressed, Mohale Motaung, E?niafe?? Momodu, and Ugo Mozie.


The afternoon featured a curated interactive fashion talk on the topic “The Impact of Storytelling for The Future of Africa” moderated by journalist and CEO of Every Stylish Girl, Nana Agyemang with panelists Film Director, Kuukua Eshun, Photographer and filmmaker, Paul Ninson, celebrity and NBA stylist, Rachel Johnson, and Tolu Ayeni, Partnerships for Instagram.


“We are in our 6th year of producing the Editors Meet Brunch where we encourage the spirit of collaboration among fashion and style creatives in Ghana and across the African diaspora. It is a true celebration of style and an amazing way for us to kick off the year and make many valuable industry connections,” shared Emmanuel Ekuban, editor-in-chief of Debonair Afrik.


Ghanaian media personality and philanthropist Vanessa Gyan served as the MC with music courtesy of DJ Stunt and Slybeatz. Miss Universe Ghana, Engracia Mofuman used the event as send-off party ahead of her journey to represent Ghana in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.


Live performances included a set by musical nightingale, Titi Owusu and to close the show, Ghanaian music maestro Kwabena Kwabena and the Kwame Yeboah Band performed back-to-back hits with participation of the crowd.


The evening culminated with DJ Lisa, the official curator of the #TEMbrunch2023 Spotify playlist and DJ Pizzaro ushering attendees into the Disco Afterparty in partnership with Martell cognac for dancing until dawn.


The Editors Meet Brunch 2023: De Renaissance of Disco was supported by GH Mumm, France’s best and the world’s leading luxury champagne brand, Sankofa Snacks, Scent of Africa, WaxPrint Media, Dilmah Tea, Tama Cosmetics, Every Stylish Girl, Menscook GH, Tinsel Events, and Designed by JR. It was held at The Fitzgerald Gardens in Accra, Ghana.
