Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan lead Laal Singh Chadha was one of the most awaited films of the year. The movie received positive reviews and even the word of mouth was good, but that didn’t help the movie to get a good response at the box office. Laal Singh Chaddha got off to a slow start and collected Rs. 11.70 crores. The film was expected to show growth over the Independence Day weekend. But that didn’t happen.
Laal Singh Chaddha showed further decline and even on a national holiday like Independence Day it just collected Rs. 7.87 crores at the box office. On weekdays, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the film showed a huge drop and on its seventh day (Wednesday), according to Pinkvilla, the film collected Rs. 1.55 crores.
The seven-day total is 49.23 crores. The film failed to even reach the 50 crore mark in its first week. It is certainly a disastrous response that a good film like Laal Singh Chaddha got.
Aamir Khan’s last release Thugs Of Hindostan which was panned by critics and audiences had a gross of 50.75 crores and it is shocking to see that Laal Singh Chaddha didn’t even collect that much in seven days. As of now, it looks like the lifetime collection of the film will be around Rs. 60 crores.
Well, after looking at the box office collection of Laal Singh Chaddha, one wonders if he is influenced by the #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha trend. It was trending on social media for many days and people were upset with Aamir and Kareena for the statements they had made a few years back.
Laal Singh Chaddha box office collection is certainly a problem for the Bollywood industry. If one of Aamir Khan’s lead roles flops at the box office, what will be the fate of other big players? Let’s wait and see.
