A Look At Gaurav Gupta’s Vedic-Inspired Collection At Paris Fashion Week

After a scintillating debut last year, ace designer Gaurav Gupta continues to push the envelope for sculpted couture with his latest collection

For his second outing at the Paris Fashion Week, couturier Gaurav Gupta sought inspiration from the Vedas to design a collection titled ‘Hiranyagarbha’. Hiranya translates as golden and garbha, the womb and Gupta’s collection conceptualises the process of life in varied colours.

With structured and dramatic gowns, dresses and pantsuits, Gupta stayed true to his eponymous aesthetics. The collection, designed with chiffon, taffetas, accessorised with glass bugle beads, crystals as well as traditional Indian embroidery techniques like zardozi, nakshi and dabka were a kaleidoscope of colours on the runway at the iconic fashion event.

“This collection is a journey from birth, transformation, realisation, and eventual harmony with the cosmos. It is a peek into the golden womb, inviting us to embrace the stark light within,” reads the collection description on his website.

Another constant at his fashion show was rapper Cardi B, who was dressed in a dramatic neon gown with a hooded cape by the couturier.
