Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated Bollywood debut Liger opened to negative reviews from critics and audiences. The Puri Jagannadh directorial witnessed dismal occupancy on its opening day. This irked Manoj Desai, CEO of Maratha Mandir Cinema and Gaiety Galaxy, who called Vijay “arrogant” and an “anaconda” for his statement on the ongoing boycott trends on social media. Noticing this, Vijay recently flew from Hyderabad to Mumbai to meet the theater owner to clear any misunderstandings. “Yes, he came to meet me to clear up the misunderstanding. Please note, he has clarified the understanding,” Manoj told DNA. It is not known what kind of conversation Vijay and Manoj had when they finally met face to face and whether they both regret their respective statements or not. After the back-to-back films bombed at the box office, Manoj, in the heat of his anger, had said, “Why are you showing intelligence by saying ‘Boycott our film’? People won’t even watch OTT. Such behavior of yours caused us problems and affected our advance bookings. Mr Vijay you are an anaconda not “Konda Konda”. You talk like an anaconda. “Vinaash kaale vipareet buddhi” when the time of destruction inches closer, the mind stops working and you do this. He had given an example of how Aamir Khan, Taapsee Pannu and Akshay Kumar faced the heat of netizens who decided to boycott their films because of their statements. He also stated that he has high hopes for Liger, adding that one should not do this and never pay attention to hashtags.

Liger has now joined the league of one of the lowest rated films on IMDb with 2.8 ratings followed by recently released films like Taapsee Pannu’s Dobaaraa with 2.9 ratings, Akshay Kumar’s Rakshan Bandhan with 4.6 ratings and Laal Aamir Khan’s Singh Chaddha with 5 ratings.
