Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday film locks digital release date and platform

Liger Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Anania Kovach is released in theaters worldwide today. While the Telugu version is already out, the Hindi version will hit the big screen from Thursday night. However,
the film is now in the news for its OTT release. It is now a trend for audiences to first check when the film is slated for OTT release and then decide whether to watch it in theaters or wait for it. However, fans of Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday who were waiting for the release of Liger will have to wait for some time before watching the film in the comfort of their homes on OTT. Liger closes deal for OTT release?

According to various reports, Liger directed by Puri Jagannadh has locked its OTT streaming partner and it is none other than Disney Plus Hotstar. The film is said to have been bought for digital release at a whopping price which is yet to be revealed. But considering the reports that the lead star Vijay Deverakonda has pocketed over Rs 25 crore as royalty for the film, one can well imagine the price Liger would fetch for its OTT release. Add to this the great buzz surrounding the Arjun Reddy starrer and his chemistry with Gehraiyaan hottie Ananya Panday. However, the film received mixed and extreme reactions from fans on the first day of its release. The box office collections are great but only time will tell how the film will perform in the coming days. When can we expect Liger on OTT?

About Liger OTT release date, Liger is the first Telugu blockbuster to release after the decision taken by the Tollywood producers guild to keep an 8-week window before a film reaches any OTT platform. This is to ensure that there is enough business from the theaters that can be generated. That being said, Liger may not launch on OTT until October. Will this be Hotstar’s HOT Diwali 2022 edition? Apart from Vijay and Ananya, the film also stars Mike Tyson, Ramya Krishnan, Vishu Reddy, Getup Srinu and others in pivotal roles. Vijay called the film not a pan-Indian film but a pan-world film and there are reports that the film has done great business at the overseas box office.
