It’s been almost 5 years since Ali Asghar bid adieu to The Kapil Sharma Show following Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover’s on-air brawl. Ali became the host with his character of Daadi in the comedy show. However, he decided to quit as he felt that his character was not growing, leading to his dissatisfaction. In a new interview, Ali cleared the air about her alleged spat with Kapil and said that she holds him in high regard as a comedian. Talking about the reason why he quit The Kapil Sharma Show, Ali said that he was not creatively happy with his character of Naani compared to that of Daadi and had conveyed the same to the team even before he went on tour to Australia in 2017. He shared his concerns with the team and told them he wasn’t too keen on renewing his contract. “Maybe Kapil didn’t know the reason why I left the show. It may not have reached him. I can’t cheat as an artist. If I am not satisfied, how will I entertain the audience? So it seemed better that I quit the show then and if something good comes up, we could collaborate again,” Ali told Bombay Times. “Then we missed each other’s calls and there was a gap in communication. In time we both moved on. But I’m happy to have been a part of it and learned a lot from it. I will always respect him. He understands the pulse of the audience and knows how to put on a show,” he added.

Ali also agreed with the fact that after leaving The Kapil Sharma Show, he could not recreate the success with his other projects. However, he has no complaints or regrets about his decision as he had a reason to quit and it wasn’t an overnight decision. He said that if his intention was to make money, he would have continued to be a part of the show.
