LONDON — Puratos has partnered with organizers of the Future Food-Tech event series to launch an innovation challenge for early to mid-stage startups developing technology solutions to improve gut health. Solutions may include prebiotics, postbiotics, non-spore-forming probiotics, stable foods, novel plant fibers, upcycled ingredients, fermented ingredients, and technologies or services that can improve the gut microbiome or measure its impact on consumer health.
“Imagine if we could turn everyday bread into a daily source of food that our guts need,” said Paul Baisier, chief research and development group director at Puratos, a global supplier of bakery and confectionery ingredients. “This will be a food innovation forever. Through this innovation challenge, Puratos pursues its commitment to invest heavily in discovering solutions that improve human health and nutrition.”
The finalists will take part in a live presentation at the Future Food-Tech Summit in London on 22-23 September. The winner will gain access to Puratos’ research and development capabilities, including its innovation center at its headquarters in Belgium, as well as global resources for bakery, confectionery and chocolate applications. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to present to Puratos’ venture fund Sparkalis and will receive senior management training during a minimum two-day internship at Puratos.
