The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Poggy” Lazatin Jr., has pledged to fully support local entrepreneurs by showcasing their products not only across the country, but around the world.
This was announced by Lazatin on June 30, 2022 during his inaugural speech at Barangay Kutud.
Lazatin said his administration will extend every possible support to export industries and enter into viable and strategic partnerships with rural, small and medium enterprises.
Through the assistance of the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (Acedipo), the city will participate in trade fairs locally and abroad to promote and identify possible markets.
In his first term as mayor, the “One City, One Product” (Otop) program is a priority. That is why Lazatin said that the city government’s Otop souvenir center will be revitalized.
Twenty-one local merchants display products in the store, but Mayor Lazatin aims to expand it to promote food products as well, while expanding technical support for small businesses to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and likewise to help them in packaging and marketing.
During the pandemic, local business is one of the hardest hit sectors, Lazatin said.
Lazatin said that with the resources the city has, it can exhaust the funds to help them, knowing that their talent and skills deserve the world’s spotlight.
