Mandana Karimi clarifies Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker isn’t the ex-BF who left her after she got pregnant

On Kangana Ranaut‘s reality show Lock upp, we saw several celebrities make confessions about their personal life. One of the most shocking revelations was made by actress Mandana Karimi. In an episode, she had opened up about her ‘secret’ relationship with an ‘ace director’ who had dumped her after she got pregnant.

After the episode aired on OTT, reports speculating the name of the filmmaker had been doing rounds on the internet. Several netizens and even media outlets claimed that Mandana was talking about popular Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, whom she had publically supported during #MeToo movement. Mandana, who was recently eliminated from the show, has slammed the media for picking names and clarified that she wasn’t talking about Kashyap.

In an interview with the Times of India, she said, “I don’t know how people have come up with some names. How can people play with names? That’s the sad reality of social media and news. The person whom I had a relationship with, was not my friend…I definitely want to add here that it’s not the name that’s going around, which is Anurag Kashyap. Anurag was my friend and we are still friends.”

Talking about the reports about her alleged secret affair, she added, “I have seen the headlines. It’s not done. It’s very unethical and unfortunate. I want to repeat again here, it’s a sad state of news and headlines- picking names, putting words into people’s mouths.”

For the unversed, Mandana had shared details about his secret relationship on Lock Upp. The actress had revealed that she moved in with the director during the COVID-19 lockdown and they even planned pregnancy. However, when she conceived a baby, the ex-boyfriend ‘completely backed off and his reason was that he did not think he was emotionally ready to become a father again.’

Mandana later decided to get an abortion.
