Moving on. Director Zoya Akhtar’s live-action musical movie The Archies, based on the popular American comics of the same name, will debut on Netflix on December 7th. The film marks the acting debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan; Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor; and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. The actors announced the release date along with Akhtar with a live billboard on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway. The billboard features a countdown timer that tracks the number of days left for the film’s launch on Netflix. According to the makers, the 1960s-set film explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion through the lives of teenagers in the fictional town of Riverdale.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has taken strong objection to actor Meezaan Jafri allegedly wearing a “kirpan”, a symbol of Sikh faith, in a song in the upcoming movie Yaariyan-2, and also filed a police complaint for hurting religious sentiments. Though the film’s directors claimed that the actor was wearing a “khukri” – a curved knife – and not a “kirpan” and that they had no intention to disrespect any religious beliefs, the SGPC said that “they are not satisfied with the illogical clarification”. An SGPC spokesperson said that their president Harjinder Singh Dhami has asked for an immediate ban on the film and its song on YouTube from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the CBFC.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is all set to begin shooting for his new project. As per film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Aamir Khan Productions has also locked the release date of the film. The film is all set to hit theatres on December 20, 2024. The yet-to-be-titled film will clash with Welcome To The Jungle on Christmas 2024. Further details about the project are still awaited. Aamir was last seen in the film Laal Singh Chaddha opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film was an official Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump. However, it did not do well at the box office and faced a lot of controversies, leading to Khan taking an indefinite hiatus from films.
Actor Rani Mukerji said that her relationship with her husband, film producer Aditya Chopra, is based on ‘mutual respect’. In a new interview with Film Companion, she also expressed relief that the famously reclusive Aditya is now more comfortable about stepping out in public, after appearing in a documentary series about family-owned Yash Raj Films studio. She shared – “He’s just not outgoing with film people, but he’s quite outgoing,” adding that his prominent appearance in the Netflix documentary has ‘spoilt’ him. She said, jokingly – “It’s become a big problem at home. But, we also discuss each other’s work because we are from the same fraternity.” Rani Mukerji was last seen in the film Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway.
Meanwhile, actor Kangana Ranaut will showcase her dancing skills in her upcoming film Chandramukhi 2, in which she plays the role of a classical dancer. In an interview with IANS, Kangana opened up about her role in Chandramukhi 2. She said, “I play a larger-than-life character in a quintessential paisa-vasool entertainer. It’s a mix of genres. The film has a bit of action, comedy, horror and romance and is also a musical. This is the first time I have been part of a big entertainer playing a larger-than-life character.” Chandramukhi 2 is a sequel to the 2005 film Chandramukhi, which starred Jyotika and Rajinikanth. Both the films have been directed by P Vasu. Chandramukhi 2 releases on September 19th.

Abir has previously helmed films like Kiara Advani starrer Indoo Ki Jawani. Talking about the upcoming project, Sunny said – “This film needs me to prepare hard and completely transform myself into the character that Abir has written.
