BBC’s Pointless returned on Saturday night with an all new instalment of its ‘Celebrity’ edition – but viewers were not especially impressed with the ‘all star’ cast.
The quiz show – in which contestants search for the correct answers that nobody who was surveyed managed to come up with – was helmed by Alexander Armstrong and mainstay quizmaster Richard Osman.
But those two were probably the most recognisable people on the show, as viewers pointed out that they were struggling to identify any of the other ‘celebrities’.

The lineup included The Xtra Factor presenter Matt Richardson, comedian Adam Rowe, Scam Interceptors host Rav Wilding, former Emmerdale star Wayne Perrey, Live and Kicking legend Sarah Cawood, The Wright Stuff host Matthew Wright and comedian Maisie Adam.
The star cast didn’t impress viewers, who pointed out that ironically enough, they all could have been Pointless answers in a picture round…

@dms207 said: “Never heard of 6 of the 8 “celebrities”. Surely this should be called “Pointless Randomers”? #pointless ”

Beyond that, there was one rude moment that had people shouting at the telly.
@dannykirkles said: “The whole country is currently watching #Pointless and shouting ‘SHART’ at the telly.”
But by the end of the episode, Matthew Wright and Sarah Cawood ended up in the final as they searched for a pointless answer on 21st Century Broadway Musicals.
Amazingly, the pair scored a Pointless answer with ‘In Summer’, finding an answer that was both correct and that nobody else had said.
As a result, they scooped the £2,500 jackpot for their chosen charities.
