In our top story. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is as excited as his fans since the release of the promo of Jawan, which has crossed 52 million views on YouTube. SRK took to Twitter to thank the film’s leading crew and cast members. Thanking director Atlee first, SRK wrote – ” Sir!! Mass!! You are the man!!!! Thank you for everything.” He also thanked his co-star Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the antagonist in the film and wrote – ” Sir, an honour to work with you. Thanks for teaching me a bit of Tamil on the sets & the delicious food you got. Love you Nanba.” Nayanthara, Priyamani and Sanya Malhotra also play pivotal roles in the film.

 

Moving on. Hrithik Roshan is gearing up to play an IAF officer in Siddharth Anand’s next, Fighter. Recently a video of the actor resurfaced on the internet where he talks about the movie. Fighter, scheduled for a 2024 release, also stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. The viral clip from an old interview also revealed that he shot with Sukhois for the movie and it was a learning experience for him during the filming of the actioner. Hrithik says, “We shot for about 12 days inside the Sukhois and with the Sukhois. It has been incredible and so inspiring. I learnt so much, the body language, the decorum, the discipline, what the IAF are up against every single day.”

 

Actor Alia Bhatt shared a “vlog” on her Youtube channel for her fans and revealed how she shot the romantic song “Tum Kya Mile” from her latest film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. The actor detailed the difficult shooting for the track from the Karan Johar film. Composed by Pritam with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the song features Ranveer Singh and Alia romancing each other in quintessential Bollywood style in Kashmir. The song is Karan’s tribute to Yash Chopra, who shot his actors lavishly, in snowy mountains in a chiffon saree. Alia also revealed that this was the first shoot after she gave birth. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, will hit theatres on July 28.

 

Meanwhile, actor Katrina Kaif took to her Instagram on Tuesday, 11th July, to share a heartwarming note for her assistant of 20 years, Ashok Sharma. The actor shared a picture and wrote how he has seen the highs and lows of her career. Katrina shared – “Ashok Sharma – the person who has spent the most time with me in the last 20 years. From laughs to motivating pep talks, to fights over me not drinking what I’ve asked for. To Ashok shedding a few tears if someone gave me a tough time on set. We’ve been through it all. His friendly face was there every day. The one constant, always keeping a watchful eye. Here’s to the next 20.”

 

Actor Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor commenced the filming of Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 on Tuesday, 11th July. Stree 2 is the second instalment of the critically acclaimed 2018 hit Stree and is a part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe. The makers, in a note, announced the commencement of the shoot for the sequel, along with an announcement video. In the video, the message to Stree now reads, “O Stree raksha karna”. It also suggests that the film will revolve around the terror of headless demons. Stree 2 will be backed by Jio Studios and Maddock Films. Alongside Rajkummar and Shraddha, the horror comedy also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee. The sequel will release in August 2024.

 

Meanwhile, actor Ayushmann Khurrana says his highly lauded film “An Action Hero” failed to draw audiences to cinema halls because its theatrical release timing was “bad”. Directed by debutant Anirudh Iyer, the action-comedy-thriller opened to good reviews upon its December theatrical release but fell short at the box office. The film received a better response when it premiered on Netflix in January. Ayushmann told PTI in an interview – “It really depends on timing. This is the best time, the theatricals are also back now and I am glad mid-budget films are working. I think it was a bad time then. ‘An Action Hero’ got a lot of love later so, I will keep on making these choices.”

 

Kapil Sharma surprised everyone and proved his mettle in acting with his previous film, Zwigato. After receiving heaps of praise from the audience and critics alike, Zwigato has now earned a spot in the permanent core collection of the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Zwigato is directed by Nandita Das. Despite receiving positive reviews, Zwigato has still not been released on streaming platforms. Nandita mentioned the same in her latest Instagram post and thanked the Academy. She wrote – “I’m glad it will be available in the library for students, filmmakers and writers. I think it’s time to give the audience as well the opportunity to see Zwigato. Thank you for this honour!”

 

Lastly, actor Gajraj Rao shot to fame overnight after starring in the hit film Badhaai Ho, alongside Neena Gupta and Ayushmann Khurrana, though he has been around for decades. In a recent interview, the actor looked back on difficult times. Gajraj appeared on the Varun Duggi podcast and shared – “I did a lot of jobs, and I didn’t have the proper support system around me to guide me. At one point, the financial situation was very difficult. It’s easy for me to say this now, but when you don’t have food, all your dreams and fantasies go for a toss.”
