In our top story. Adipurush, the film based on Ramayana, became mired in controversy as soon as it was released, as many found the dialogues objectionable. The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri, who is also a part of the Central Board of Film Certification, was recently asked about the role CBFC played in clearing a film that could potentially hurt people’s sentiments. Agnihotri told India.com – “I am part of the CBFC board but the board does not watch the film. The examining committee watches the film. I don’t know what happened to the film at what stage and why it happened.” The director also said that he was busy shooting for his next film, The Vaccine War.
Moving on. Filmmaker Karan Johar is ready to pay tribute to Bollywood musicals with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s new song ‘Tum Kya Mile.’ On 27th June, the makers shared the teaser of the film’s song, sung by Dharma Productions’ constant Arijit Singh with the music composed by Pritam. Sharing the teaser, Ranveer Singh wrote, “A song that will fill up your heart!” In the film’s teaser, which was released on June 20th, snippets of ‘Tum Kya Mile’ could be heard playing in the background, providing a glimpse of the film’s enchanting music. Since then, fans have been excited for its release. The song will be released on all streaming platforms today.
Sonam Kapoor’s big comeback vehicle to films – Blind, is set to release on July 7th on JioCinema and the teaser of the film dropped on Tuesday, 27th June. The teaser introduces Sonam’s character as a visually impaired person who takes a cab, driven by Purab Kohli’s character, and realises that someone is being held hostage in the trunk of the car. The teaser then shows the police on the hunt for a man who has been kidnapping women in the UK. The promo ends with a phone call between the two characters where the kidnapper warns her against following him. Vinay Pathak and Lilette Dubey also star in the film. Blind has been directed by Shome Makhija.
Meanwhile, actor Suniel Shetty recently took to LinkedIn to share his insights on the importance of dubbing in the ever-evolving process of filmmaking. In his post, he explained the hard work and discipline that goes into dubbing for a project. He wrote, “Over the course of the 35-odd years I’ve spent in the film business, I’ve witnessed a remarkable evolution of the film industry. There are so many exciting aspects to filmmaking. However, none is as fascinating as dubbing. In the early years of my career, most films relied heavily on the dubbing process, where hours were spent in the studio meticulously recreating dialogues and sound effects to synchronize with the visual footage captured on set.”
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s chartbuster song ‘Jaati Hoon Main’ from their 1995 film Karan Arjun, remains an iconic number and the Kajol says she had “no idea” what was being done in the song. Kajol, however, credited her close friend and longtime collaborator Shah Rukh for making her “comfortable.” The song, composed by Rajesh Roshan, was choreographed by Chinni Prakash. In an interview with The Hindu, Kajol recalled – “I had no clue. It was tough to do, but I did it. Shah Rukh is still one of the most understanding costars because he understands what is uncomfortable for a woman to do and he tries his best to make you most comfortable to do that.”
Meanwhile, Sobhita Dhulipala may not have grown up with acting dreams, but she was always a geeky, curious child. In a new interview with indianexpress.com, Sobhita opened up about her journey. She shared – “I wasn’t educated in the film world, so everything I have learnt, I have learnt on the job. It is quite interesting how my career has played out because I was quite conscious of the fact that I had come from a modelling background. I was this geeky girl, very disconnected from this world. I was a curious spectator. I didn’t ever think I had a shot at actually being a part of it or having a proper film career.”
Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, who enjoyed a short but successful stint in the Hindi film industry, recently opened up about his life as a diabetic. In a conversation with the YouTube channel FreeStyle Middle East, Fawad shared – ” I used to be 65 kgs and went down to 55 kgs at the age of 17. I was given insulin and I have been on insulin since the age of 17.” The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor also said that people need to be more aware of such conditions and even though a lot of people are suffering from the condition, not many are aware as to what should be done in case of an emergency.
Lastly, Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub revealed that on several occasions, his roles have been reduced because it was felt that he was overpowering his more popular co-stars. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Zeeshan said that he always feels bad when this happens. He shared – “Sometimes, you get this shock after the edit when you’re watching the film at a screening. And you realise that scenes have been cut, the camera is no longer on you, and the movie cuts to the next scene where you had a good line. This has happened a lot, and I’ve gotten used to it. But yes, I feel equally bad each time.”
