Canadian actor Suraj Kumar, popularly known as Dhruvan, met with a serious road accident on Saturday, June 24. He was riding his motorcycle on the Mysuru-Gundluper highway, near Begur. While trying to cross a tractor, he somehow lost his balance and encountered a heavy collision with a dump truck. The incident happened at 4 pm on Saturday. Soon after, Suraj Kumar was rushed to Maisiru’s Manipal Hospital. He reportedly suffered a severe injury to his right leg due to which doctors were forced to amputate his leg below the knee to save the actor’s life.

According to reports, on the evening of June 25, Suraj Kumar left Mysuru to reach Ooty on his bike. While on the road, the actor tried to overtake a tractor, but lost control, which caused the unfortunate accident. Sources said the Canadian actor rammed into the dump truck in Gundlupet taluka near Hirikati gate. The actor’s life-saving surgery cost him his leg. Further updates on his health condition are yet to be revealed.

For the uninitiated, 24-year-old Suraj Kumar is the nephew of late legendary Canadian actor Dr. Rajkumar’s wife, Paravathamma Rajkumar. His father SA Srinivas is a famous film producer. Dr Rajkumar’s son Shiv Rajkumar and his wife Geetha visited Suraj Kumar in the hospital. However, they have not yet commented on the incident.

Suraj Kumar was an avid cyclist. He often posted pictures of him riding a bike. For example, in this black and white photo, the actor is mounted on a stylish Harley Davidson. The fact that Suraj is also a fitness enthusiast is quite evident from his social media posts where he can be seen working out.

Suraj Kumar changed his name to Dhruvan after entering the film industry. The Kannada actor was to mark his debut in the film world with director Anup Antony’s film Bhagavan Sri Krishna Paramatma. Launched by Canadian actor Darshan, the film was not released in theaters and was shelved due to unknown reasons. Suraj Kumar was also roped in for another film titled Rantham. Before the incident, the actor was signed for an untitled project with actress Priya Prakash Varrier, whose fate remains in doubt.
