Requesting for the ban on Adipurush to be lifted, the film’s producer T-series apologised to Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah over a dialogue where Sita is described as the ‘daughter of India’. In a letter to Mayor Shah, T-Series said that the mistake has been corrected and assured that the error was not intentional. Shah had issued an order banning the film in Kathmandu after taking objection to a line of dialogue in the film, an adaptation of Ramayana. Later, he extended the ban to all Indian films. Besides Shah, the Mayor of Dharan in eastern Nepal, Harka Sampang and the Pokhara Metropolitan City have also enforced a ban on screening Indian films following the controversy.
Meanwhile, Adipurush lead actor, Kriti Sanon has decided to concentrate on the ‘cheers and claps’ despite the negative reception for the Om Raut directorial. She took to her Instagram and shared videos of the audience cheering for the Prabhas-starrer. Sharing the videos, Kriti wrote in the caption, “Focusing on the cheers and claps! Jai Siya Ram.” Fans on the internet hailed Kriti and appreciated the film. One of the fans wrote, “Don’t believe anyone’s words, once go to the theatre and see it, then you will feel that such a movie has not been made to date.” Despite the controversy it has found itself in, Adipurush has grossed Rs 340 crore so far, making it a box-office hit.
The makers of the upcoming untitled romantic drama film starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, on Monday, 19th June, announced the new official release date of their film. Taking to Instagram, production house Maddock Films shared a poster of the film and wrote, “Mark your calendars for this impossible love story that unfolds on 7th December 2023! Brought to you by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan starring Shahid Kapoor & Kriti Sanon together for the first time! Stay tuned.” Apart from Shahid and Kriti, the film also stars the legendary actor Dharmendra. Earlier the film was slated to hit the theatres in October 2023.
Moving on. The makers of the highly anticipated film Bawaal starring Varun Dhawan and Jahnvi Kapoor on Monday, 19th June, announced the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial on OTT. Taking to its official handle, Prime Video treated fans with an announcement poster. The film is all set to premiere exclusively across 200 countries and territories worldwide in July. Earlier, it was slated to hit the theatres on October 6, 2023. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala said in a statement shared by his team, “Bawaal is a very special film. It’s been an absolute joy to produce this film which has been directed by my most loved filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari with Varun and Jahnvi giving their very best, in their first film together.
“Tum Se Milke”, a new song from Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur-starrer Tiku Weds Sheru, was launched on Monday, 19th June. The romantic track, which is easy on the ears, is composed by Gaurav Chatterji and Sai Kabir and crooned by Mohit Chauhan. The music video features Nawazuddin and Avneet. Tums Se Milke explores the beautiful shades of love. Singer Mohit Chauhan said in a statement, “It has been an absolute pleasure collaborating with Gaurav Chatterji and Sai Kabir on this song. Tum Se Milke is a song that will touch your heart and transport you to experience the feeling of love. I am thrilled for the audience to experience the magic we have created.”
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s Hollywood debut film Heart of Stone recently dropped its trailer. The actor was in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Tudum event along with co-stars Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan as they unveiled the film’s trailer. While most fans were excited to see Alia playing the main antagonist, a few noted how she was given limited screen time in the trailer. The actor had addressed the same concerns on the red carpet of the event. Speaking to Mid-Day, Alia said – “I’m not worried because I feel at the end of the day you have to get a sense of what the story is about and how the story leads to the final film. That’s all that matters.”
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who is also a successful entrepreneur, opened up about his “relationship with money”. The actor, who started working at the young age of 16 at his father’s restaurant, said that his family had a very basic standard of living and he did not have any kind of luxuries. Taking to his LinkedIn handle, Suniel wrote – “When I entered the entertainment industry and started earning a substantial income, I was wired to treat money similarly. There was the occasional temptation to succumb to the allures of a flashy lifestyle, but my middle-class values ensured that I looked at most money decisions from a long-term lens.”
Lastly, Actor Smita Jaykar praised her Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and shared how he gave importance to character roles. The 1999 film proved to be a significant turning point in the careers of virtually everyone associated with it. In the film, Jaykar played the role of Amrita, the mother of the female lead Nandini, played by Aishwarya Rai. Speaking to Rajshri Unplugged, Smita said – “My role was very simple. But the way I was presented in every scene and the way Bhansali choreographed his scenes is amazing. He brings so much life to every scene. But giving recognition to the roles played by character artists like us is the quality that makes him amazing.”
