One teacher totally trained a student during a dance fight and the internet is loving it.

Yolanda Turner, 51, took to the cafeteria dance floor to confront her former student, eighth-grader O’Ryan, on Dec. 22 during a break between exams. The video has since racked up millions of views with celebrities such as Ciara and Khloe Kardashian reposting the sweet moment on social media.

“Students were playing games. They were, you know, eating and enjoying their vacation,” Turner told Good Morning America. “They decided to eavesdrop on me, to call me.

Turner said the moment was unplanned, but she’s happy she was able to spread so much joy.

“It took me by complete surprise — I was in shock,” O’Ryan, 13, told “GMA.” He added that just like his jaw-dropping reaction seen in the video, “I had to regroup like I didn’t know this was going to happen.”

The students were in awe of Turner’s dance moves, but she said they were nothing new, saying music and dance had always been a part of her life, adding that she had taught at performing arts schools and DJed as a hobby.

“I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. It’s always been a part of me and my life,” Turner said. “It’s good for the soul, it’s good for the body.”

“We do a lot of dances at our school,” O’Ryan said, “everyone is quite active in the music and dance scene.” But he explained, “I’ve never danced against Mrs. Turner before – she caught me off guard.”

O’Ryan was a student in Turner’s class late last year. The two bonded over their shared love of music, and she said they’ve been able to maintain a close relationship ever since.

“He was my student in the past. But we always interact on some level. He either comes to my room or, you know, he wants to help,” Turner said. “We’re musical. We sing, we dance. If you see him, you’ll see him dance.”

Turner said the moment captures a special school year that marks the true return of in-person gatherings for students and teachers that were prevented by COVID the past few years.

“I’ve always had a great time with our students … They are so resilient,” she said. “They deserve to have a great time and I’m happy to be a part of that.

“I just want them to always remember that nothing is so bad when you can’t dance,” she added.
