New Delhi: Volodomyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, praised India for supporting the UN and delivering humanitarian relief in a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Additionally, Zelensky wished India a “successful G20 presidency.” In the midst of the ongoing crisis with Russia, India has been supplying humanitarian help to Ukraine and its neighbouring nations.
“I had a phone call with @PMOIndia Narendra Modi and wished a successful #G20 presidency. It was on this platform that I announced the peace formula and now I count on India’s participation in its implementation. I also thanked for humanitarian aid and support in the UN,” the Ukrainian President said on Twitter.

“Today’s era is not of war,” Prime Minister Modi had declared during his recent face-to-face meeting with President Putin, suggesting that both parties should find a peaceful way to end the conflict that has lasted for months.

This narrative, by PM Modi, was also echoed at the G20 summit in Indonesia earlier this year as the summit declaration.

On October 4 as well, PM Modi spoke by phone with Zelenskyy and declared that there can be “no military solution” and that India is prepared to support any peace initiatives.

On September 16, during their private meeting in Uzbekistan, PM Modi urged Russian President Putin to put an end to the violence, stating that “today’s era is not one of war.”

On Christmas, several Ukrainian towns came under fire from Russian missiles despite Vladimir Putin’s declaration that he was prepared to undertake negotiations with the Zelenskyy-led nation.
