Lyca Productions took to their official social media and released a teaser to announce the release date which is going viral. The historical period drama starring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and others is releasing on April 28, 2023. Yes, you read that right. In just 4 months you will be able to witness the long awaited and anticipated second part of the magnum opus.

What is Ponniyin Selvan 1?
Ponniyin Selvan is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical fiction novel of the same name. It is considered one of the greatest Tamil literatures. The first part is based on the early life of the Chola prince, Arulmoji Varman, who would eventually become the famous emperor. Ponniyin Selvan 1 was released on 30 September in Tamil and was also dubbed into languages. It was released in standard and IMAX format.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 became the highest grossing Tamil film of 2022 by earning over Rs 495.50 crore at the worldwide box office. Just before the release of Ponniyin Selvan 1, Mani Ratnam had told the press that part 2 will release in 6 to 9 months after the release of the first part.
