Chris Brown, aka C-Breezy, was told to take it easy when his scheduled AMA 2022 Michael Jackson tribute performance was canceled. Many are speculating that the cancelation is the result of tensions that linger from the 2009 domestic violence incident with then-girlfriend, Rihanna. Fans were shocked when the singer took to Instagram to share a rehearsal video of the anticipated performance captioned “U SERIOUS.” It was clarified in the comments by Brown that the performance would not happen as he wrote, “WOULD’VE been the ama performance but they cancelled on me for reasons unknown.”

“And the s–t that you was doing, you and you loved ones and your close friends, they remember that s–t, and they forgive you for it.” the rapper said to the hosts. “Imagine the whole not forgiving you for something you did.”

Chris Brown was scheduled to perform alongside fellow dancer, Ciara, at 2022 American Music Awards. The R&B singer took to Instagram, posting a clip from a rehearsal, with the caption reading, “MJ thank you for the inspiration you’ve given us all! Thriller 40th Anniversary. @ChrisBrownOfficial you’re a rare breed of this generation. Always fun to rock with you”.

In 2012, when Christ Brown had a cameo in the film Think Like A Man, Taraji P Henson was happy for the singer. Henson spoke to Vulture and was clear that, while she didn’t condone what he had done in his past, people deserve forgiveness.

“But what I’m saying is we have to allow each other to be human and we have to allow humans to make mistakes and to be big enough to forgive them. I guarantee you if you could give him those five minutes back, he would change it.” Henson said.

The singer discussed her rekindled friendship with Brown in 2012 on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

“We’ve been working on our friendship again. Now we’re very very close friends. We’ve built up a trust again, and that’s – we love each other and we probably always will. And that’s not something we’re ever going to change. That’s not something you can shut off, if you’ve ever been in love.” Rihanna said.
