Visually impaired

Rana once revealed that he was blind in his right eye. Although he has undergone a transplant, he will not be able to see out of his right eye if he closes his left. Worked as a coolie

Rana worked as a coolie in a vegetable market to help a family in need of financial support. He has participated in a show called Memu Saitham which invites celebrities to take up odd jobs, collect the money and donate it to the right cause. Rana is a self-confessed fan of legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Sridevi. Interestingly, the actor took inspiration from Kamal Haasan’s cult classic Nayagan to prepare for his role in Baahubali.

Physical transformation

Rana had undergone a massive physical transformation for his role as Balaldeva in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. He weighed 110 kilograms and to increase the required amount of muscle, he consumed 40 egg whites every day. He then lost 20 kilograms to play the younger version in the film.

He carved his own path

Rana, son of popular film producer Suresh Babu, chose to follow his passion and started his career as a special effects coordinator. He worked in Mahesh Babu starrer Sainikudu which helped him win the Nandi Award, the highest award in Tollywood.
