This January, Ukrainian brands LITKOVSKA, DZHUS, BOBKOVA and JEAN GRIETSFELDT will present their new FW23-24 collections as part of shows and presentations during Berlin Fashion Week. Ukrainian designers became the winners of the concept competition by the Fashion Council Germany.

“Participation in Berlin Fashion Week is an extraordinary opportunity to declare ourselves at a new qualitative level and simultaneously remind the world about the war in Ukraine. The performance of DZHUS will be highly symbolic – I believe it will resonate with both followers of smart consumption and everyone who cares about Ukraine. I am grateful to Ukrainian Fashion Week as thanks to their team I found out about the BFW grant programme,” comments Irina Dzhus, founder and designer of the DZHUS brand.

After the cooperation between Ukrainian Fashion Week x Berlin Fashion Week as part of the UFW International Season SS23, the representatives of the Fashion Council Germany provided Ukrainian designers with the opportunity to participate in the competition as a sign of support for the Ukrainian fashion industry.

“With Berlin Contemporary, we have succeeded in creating a format that allows promising talents to present their creativity, craftsmanship and innovative power within the framework of Berlin Fashion Week. For me, the great popularity is confirmation that developing programs that promote the individual strengths of newcomers is the right thing to do,” says Scott Lipinski, CEO of Fashion Council Germany.

49 applications were submitted for participation in “Berlin Contemporary” – one of the competition categories for participation in Berlin Fashion Week on January 16-21. The victory and a cash prize for organizing a show or presentation went to ten participants, four of which were Ukrainian brands. The winners are Acceptance Letter Studio, Bobkova, Dennis Chuene, Esther Perbandt, Fassbender, Jean Gritsfeldt, Litkovska, LML Studio, Lou de Bétoly, Malaika Raiss, Namilia, ODEEH, Olivia Ballard, RIANNA + NINA, Sia Arnika, # DAMUR, DZHUS and SF1OG.
