Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have worked together in a number of films including Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Aitraaz. They had displayed an intense chemistry between them on the big screen and the audience loved it too. But after 2005, Akshay stopped working with Priyanka and the reason was none other than Khiladi Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna, revealed director Suneel Darshan.
In the 2005 film Barsaat, Akshay was originally cast to play the lead opposite Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu. He had even shot for a romantic and sensual song with Priyanka but soon opted out of the film. Akshay was replaced by Bobby Deol in the film. The director said Akshay walked out of the film because of Twinkle’s reservations about Priyanka.
Suneel said that Akshay and Priyanka are a very good couple with similar personality traits. They had amazing chemistry and the song also looked beautiful, no vulgarity, no obscenities but very sensual. But when Priyanka went on a world tour and came back, things changed drastically. The director later found out that Twinkle had opposed Akshay and Priyanka working together.
“By then I had also become aware of the other problems that had arisen between him and his wife. She had problems with Priyanka, I was told… I feel the profession has its dangers. Sometimes the proximity, sometimes the individual’s own lifestyle, all these things come in the way and the media blows it out of proportion without realizing how much loss a filmmaker can suffer because of it,” Sunil told Bollywood Hungama.
Akshay and Priyanka have not appeared together in a film since then. They became successful actors and gained immense fame separately. While Akshay married Twinkle and has two children Aarav and Nitara, Priyanka married Nick Jonas and welcomed their little daughter Malti Marie.
