Moreover, the 6-yards long piece of cloth can be draped in any way with any twist.

The popularity of sarees is increasing with every passing year, amidst all age groups; and therefore, designers are trying their best to evolve sarees according to the modern consumers. However, the question that is unanswered is: why among so many trends, sarees are still most popular among women.

5 Reasons which makes sarees popular among women’s wardrobe:

Comfort is always a primary factor in determining the likeability for a garment. Saree, a six-yard piece of cloth, is extremely comfortable to wear due to its drapability. Besides, there are too many options available in the market which allows women to choose sarees in any fabric. A saree can be draped in any form or silhouette, which provides the ease of movement to the wearer.

A saree is still considered a part of tradition to celebrate any festival in India. Not only in India, but NRI women, too, choose to wear sarees during every Indian festival. Every culture has their own tradition of draping a saree. Apart from draping, each culture has their own significance regarding the choice of colors and fabrics for the particular festival. For example, Bengali women wear white saree during Goddess Durga pooja, while the North Indian women prefer red.

Sarees are the most versatile garment as it can be draped in any form, like a skirt, lehenga, etc; or can be styled with pants, palazzo, dhoti and what not. Moreover, with the emergence of fashion bloggers, women are more open to experiment and hence, sarees are becoming everyone’s favorite.

Indian sarees are available in around 100 kinds of variations in terms of weave, fabric, and manufacturing process. The most popular ones are Bandhani sarees, Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees, Banarasi, Cotton Sarees, and Chanderi Sarees.

Besides, the traditional variations, Indian designers have been successful in evolving a saree into a modern attire; thereby getting success to make a room in the wardrobe of younger women. Nowadays, we have a lot of options in saree, pre-stitched sarees, saree gown, ruffle sarees, etc.

Social media has a great influence on the fashion choices of everyone around the globe. These days, popular celebrities are known for their versatile choices in Indian ethnic wear.
