DUBAI, 24th October 2022 (WAM) — The Ministry of Culture and Youth participated in the Creative Career Days festival organized by Art Jameel over two days at the Jameel Arts Center in Dubai. The event promotes the importance of cultural and creative disciplines and their role in supporting sustainable development, while encouraging students to take advantage of the scholarship program offered by the Ministry of Education in cultural and creative disciplines.
One of the best-known annual festivals dedicated to exploring careers in the arts and culture sector, Career Days features interactive activities to inspire young participants to discover a wide range of exciting opportunities in the creative sector.
The free event, which was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Youth, included a series of workshops that enhanced participants’ competencies and skills in CV writing techniques, personal interviews as well as inspiring dialogue sessions featuring several creative personalities from UAE and abroad. It also includes behind-the-scenes tours of museums and exhibitions that give participants a broad insight into possible careers in these fields and other opportunities available.
Aimed at students aged 14 to 24, the event provided an opportunity to find a career in the arts and benefit from the Creative UAE strategy. The national strategy, launched last year, aims to improve the contribution of cultural and creative industries to the nation’s sustainable development and position it as a global creative hub by supporting a creative ecosystem based on the pillars of sustainability, quality and efficiency.
The Ministry promotes this vision by organizing a series of introductory meetings from time to time that highlight the program and its objectives, the importance of reaching national competencies in these areas and the offer of scholarships. It also highlights the success stories of scholarship students and the opportunities available to pursue these disciplines in the public and private sectors. Students are also encouraged to become ambassadors to promote the program in the future.
At the festival, the Ministry of Culture and Youth presented Creative UAE Scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education for students to pursue courses in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) from prestigious international universities. Students were also introduced to promising opportunities in the CCI sector, one of the fastest growing sectors in the world today.
During the open day for young people and their families, attendees were introduced to potential jobs in the sector. Also, leading schools in collaboration with the government and private entities participated to provide a suitable environment to invest in the energy and talents of the Emirate in various cultural and creative fields.
In a statement, Mubarak Al Nahi, Under-Secretary of the Minister of Culture and Youth, said: “The Ministry of Culture and Youth is working to achieve the goals of the Creative UAE strategy through partnerships with the public and private sectors. Our involvement in Art Jameel in partnership with the Ministry of Education highlights the importance of attracting and supporting Emirati talent and encouraging them to study creative disciplines to meet the growing labor market demand for skilled national talent.”
“The ministry is keen to support the cultural and creative fields to strengthen collaboration with various local and international academic institutions to achieve the country’s vision and its future course for community development. We recognize the importance of CCI’s growth and encouraging investment in fostering creative talents and skills to enhance the socio-economic status of the country. This would effectively contribute to upgrading the creative economy, which is a pillar of growth and development,” he added.
