However, Blackout received acclaim upon its release, with critics calling it the singer’s most progressive and consistent album. Blackout is also considered a high point in the artist’s career and received praise for its influence on pop music in the 2010s.

Aside from performing at the MTV Awards, Spears reluctantly went on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM to discuss her career. The interview took place early in the morning and some noted that the singer sounded like she had just woken up.

In the interview, the host asks Spears and others if they plan to promote her new album Blackout. All together tell him that the interview is album promotion. Seacrest talked a bit about the album before moving on and asking some invasive questions, giving the pop star what sounded like backhanded compliments. For example, he points out that she must have been eating well since he saw pictures of her on several car visits.

Fans pointed out how weird the interview was. Some claimed that Spears looked hungover and that she seemed uncomfortable talking about her children and her legal troubles.

Spears was in and out of rehab in 2007 and infamously shaved her head in February of that year. In July, her divorce from Kevin Federline was finalized. The following month, she was involved in a car accident.

In October, a judge ruled in favor of her ex-husband in their custody battle. And in December 2007, the star was placed under supervision, which ended only in 2021.
