Sushmita Sen has just announced her next film Taali, a biopic on transgender Gauri Sawant. She made the announcement on her social media and it received a mixed response from fans and netizens. Fans are happy to see the former Miss Universe take on challenging roles and can’t wait to see this one. Not only her fans, but even her daughter Renee and daughter-in-law Charu Asopa are proud of Sushmota’s first time playing a transgender role and showered praises on the actress. Renee wrote, “Maa so so so proud of you Dugga Dugga I love you the most ” Charu Asopa commented, ” Wowww… First look is awesome.. so proud of you didi. looking forward … love you.”

However, this announcement by Sushmita about a transgender role has raised valid questions from netizens – why they didn’t choose the real transgender as it would have been a perfect opportunity for them and many agree with that. One user said: “I think it’s about time trans women get a chance too… instead of getting a female actor, a trans person should fill that role.” Another user commented: “Missed a perfect opportunity to cast a real transgender actor. Again.”
Well, this is not the first time that netizens have complained about incorrect transmission. Earlier they also talked about how miscasting spoils films and the example was Laxmii Bomb where Akshay Kumar got the transgender lead in the film. Earlier, Neena Gupta also spoke about why older actors were not cast in Saandh Ki Aankh after Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu played 60-something women in the said film. Coming back to Taali, we hope Sushmita can overcome these challenges.
