Aamir Khan‘c Laal Singh Chadha doesn’t live up to expectations when it comes to collecting tickets in India. However, the film did better business in overseas markets. Add to that that reactions to the film have been mixed. Now the film is all set for an OTT premiere and the makers are hoping that the film will get the love it is due during the digital premiere. According to the latest reports, Aamir and Kareena’s labor of love, Laal Singh Chadha, will be on OTT from October 20. It is interesting to note that earlier there was a buzz that the film would be released on OTT just six months after its theatrical release. But the makers and the OTT platform decided not to wait that long and catch the audience who might still be interested in watching the movie and decided not to watch it in theatres. According to India Today, the film will hit Netflix from October 20.
According to earlier reports by India Today and Bollywood Hungama, the makers of Laal Singh Chaddha did not get the amount they expected from this deal. While they were looking to fetch something below the tunes of a whopping Rs 150 crore, Netflix offered Rs 80-90 crore. The final deal seems to be somewhere over Rs 100 crore with Aamir Khan and Netflix mutually agreeing to the terms. It is also reported that Aamir has decided to waive his acting fee for the film, around Rs 100 crore, to absorb the losses incurred due to the film’s poor performance at the box office.
It is also said that Aamir Khan was depressed and disappointed that his belief was proved false and decided to take a break from films. His much-awaited Mogul was also rumored to be on the back burner. However, we hear Aamir is on a short break before he recovers and starts work on his next project. He has at least three projects and will soon greenlight one of them.
