4 Celebrities We Think Swarm Season 2 Should Focus On

WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for Swarm.Swarm season 1’s Beyoncé fan-inspired storyline revealed just how extreme fans’ love for their favorite artist could be, and a second season could explore another wild fanbase. Donald Glover’s choice to use Beyoncé’s BeyHive as inspiration for his show was a smart one. They are certainly some of the most passionate fans out there and have stood by the singer’s side for over 20 years. While most pop stars come and go, Beyoncé has reached a level of success and timelessness that few others of her generation have even come close to. While her hard work and constant reinvention is responsible, so are her diehard fans.

The BeyHive, which inspired Swarm, has made it something of a crime to speak badly about the singer. As shown in Swarm, Beyoncé’s fans will often leak public figures’ addresses if they say something bad about the singer. The BeyHive is relentless, but Dre (Dominique Fishback) in Swarm takes her love for the Beyoncé inspired singer Ni’Jah to a new extreme by committing multiple murders to avenge the Ni’Jah haters. While Beyoncé fans hold a lot of power and will fight to the death for the singer, there are some other passionate fan bases who could make Swarm season 2 just as interesting.

4 Taylor Swift’s Swifties Could Inspire Swarm Season 2

Taylor Swift debuted a decade after Beyoncé but is just as famous and successful as Queen B. It’s unfair to compare the two as they are drastically different artists, and there is room for both women to exist in the industry. However, when it comes to their fanbases, Swifties might give the BeyHive a run for their money. Beyoncé’s fans might be infamous for how crazy they get defending their queen, but Swifties have done some wild things that could inspire Swarm too.

In 2019, record executive Scooter Braun bought Swift’s former record label, including her entire back catalog, for $300 million dollars (per Screen Rant). Swift was devastated as she always wanted to own her masters. While she’s since gone on to rerecord her albums, making Braun’s purchase essentially worthless, Swifites leaked Braun’s location when he bought her music and encouraged other fans to storm his house and demand he gives Taylor her music back.

Swifties have also coined the term “Tayvoodoo,” which they believe is Swift’s power to destroy her enemies. When people who have gone against her fall from grace, Swifties swear it’s Tayvoodoo’s revenge. At one point, Swifties on social media started flooding Swift haters comment sections with photos of Swift edited to look like a demon with a pentagram on her forehead to represent Tayvoodoo. Swifties have also gone up against major corporations, most recently Ticketmaster, and most of the time, with help from “All Too Well” singer Swift, they win. Swarm would have plenty of material to work with if it used Swifties as its season 2 inspiration.

3 The Rise Of BTS Is Great Inspiration

BTS rose seemingly out of nowhere and became one of the biggest boybands the world has ever seen. The rise of K-Pop has been inspiring as the music industry hasn’t always had the best representation when it comes to pop stars, and seeing a South Korean band on top of the world was a massive change. BTS’ loyal fans feel the same way. BTS’ wild fans have put the boy band in danger many times. From trying to kiss them in meet and greets to leaking their music video shooting schedule, they’ve done everything to get their attention.

BTS fans have even gotten a hold of their phone numbers and called them and broken into their hotel rooms. The love female fans have for male celebrities is different than Dre’s obsession with the Swarm pop star. BTS fans want to marry the band members, and they will do anything to get their attention. While they also defend their idols from haters, if Swarm did a season on BTS, it would have a different angle. Instead of a murderous fan defending a celebrity, the show could touch on the lengths fans will go to get near their idol and how their passion for them could be dangerous.

2 Swarm Could Follow One Direction’s Prime Years

Like BTS, One Direction was also the biggest boy band in the world when they were together. Swarm season 1 is set from 2016-2018, and if the show covered One Direction, it would also have to be set in the past. While Harry Styles remains a massive star, when he was with his band members, it was impossible to get away from them. In 2012, the band was bigger than ever, making their fans crazier than ever. One distinct moment in their careers was when Styles was dating Taylor Swift. At the time, Swift was facing harsh and sexist criticism over dating a lot of men and writing songs about them.

Not only were fans mad she was stealing Styles from them, but they also thought she was using him for music inspiration and was going to break his heart. In response, they spent entirely of Styles and Swift’s relationship taunting her and brutally bullying her on social media. They regularly sent Swift death threats, which included claims they were going to pour bleach down her throat and light her on fire. Luckily, no fans followed through with the threats, but in Amazon Prime’s Swarm season 2, one character could be crazy enough to kill for their favorite boyband.

1 Swarm 2 Could Feature Michael Jackson

Elizabeth Taylor dubbed Michael Jackson the King of Pop for a reason. He transformed the music industry and invented the modern-day pop star with his innovative nature, constant reinvention, and talent that can’t be bought, like some of today’s celebrities, seem to think it can. Jackson was the biggest artist in the world, and his fanbase was unlike anything anyone had seen at the time. They were known for swarming airports where Jackson was arriving, and there are even videos of fans passing out at his concerts from excitement.

The Swarm season could go back in time to the 80s and follow a Jackson-like character’s fan mesmerized by the artist’s success with a Thriller-inspired album. The downside is there were no social media at the time, so Janine Nabers’ Swarm would have to get creative, but Jackson’s story has plenty to offer.
