Deeside became Royal Deeside when Queen Victoria fell in love with the area in 1848.

Royal Deeside includes the towns of Banchory, Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar and the royal estate of Balmoral Castle is visited by Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal family every summer.
