‘Under the Rainbow’, Sichuan, China – Winner second Place International Landscape Series
Fairytale hills, mesmerising volcanic patterns, eerie caves and spectacular mountains are among the captivating shots that won this year’s International Landscape Photographer of the Year
The 2022 version of this award showing the magic and beauty of our world underwater and on land, up in the mountains and down in the plains are a real treat, like the image above by photographer Tony Wang in Sichuan, China, showing undulating green hills glowing under the light of a rainbow.
The first prize for the best single photo went to American Martin Broen for the photo below of a diver swimming inside a flooded cave in Mexico, Yucatan.

The ninth edition of this year’s contest drew more than 3,800 photographs.
“We’re constantly amazed at the lengths photographers go to, whether physically in the landscape or creatively in post-production,” said Peter Eastway, chairman of the competition.

‘Andes Interior’ First Place Winner, series category, International Landscape Photographer
The title of world’s best contemporary landscape photographer was given to the Chilean photographer Benjamin Briones Grandi for a series of photographs of the dunes along the coast of Chile.
The second place in this category went to the Chinese Tony Wang, with landscapes from China and Bulgaria, and the third to Max Rive from the Netherlands for his work on glaciers in Argentina.

The competition, open to amateur and professional photographers, also includes prizes for the winners of the Black & White, Abstract and Aerial, Snow and Ice, The Incredible Cloud and The Maritime Landscape categories.
The winners share a prize of $10.000 while the top 101 photos from which the winners were selected appear in the official book of the contest.

“When judging photographs, we always run a difficult knife edge between simplicity and complexity, but more than anything this year, the pictures seemed to reflect a very intense personal response by the photographers to their subject and its treatment,” one of the judges, David Burnett, observed.
