The holiday season is here! It is time to binge-watch some Christmas movies and elevate
the cheery spirit.
The holidays are incomplete without gathering your friends, family and loved ones for a Christmas movie marathon. There are many new festive films available to stream now. Here are our top five picks for this year.
Falling for Christmas (Netflix)
In Netflix’s new Christmas movie, Falling for Christmas, Lindsay Lohan plays a pampered hotel heiress who after getting into a skiing accident suffers total amnesia. She finds herself under the care of a charming lodge owner played by Chord Overstreet, best known for his role as Sam Evans on the Fox television series Glee. The heiress is already engaged to a wealthy suitor, but she finds herself falling for her handsome caregiver over the holidays. It is not your typical ‘Rich Girl Meets Poor Boy’ movie, but has the makings of a Hallmark movie. It is funny, witty and has some cheesy aspects. It is best if you’re looking for a light watch.

The Noel Diary (Netflix)
The actor of This is Us fame, Justin Hartley stars as the protagonist in the film. The movie narrates the story of a man who returns to his childhood home for Christmas after being away for two decades. However, it is not all fun and pleasant as he is there to settle his family estate upon the passing of his estranged mother. Opening up old wounds, Hartley tries to reconcile with painful childhood memories while cleaning out his dead mother’s messy house. It’s not a happy-go-lucky holiday film, but it is a great choice if you want something with emotional profoundness.
Your Christmas or Mine? (Prime Video)
Starring Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield and Cora Kirk as a young couple, the film is not your quintessential Christmas romantic drama. It is full of the comedy of errors. When the couple plan to spend their Christmas apart, none of them knows that they’ll end up taking a spontaneous decision of arriving unannounced and swap Christmases. Having the biggest snowfall in years, they can’t reverse their decision. They get acquainted with each other’s family and friends and come to realise that they don’t know each other as much as they’d like to believe. The prospect of their relationship surviving the holidays looks grim. It is worth adding to your Christmas watch list!
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol
A retelling of the iconic movie A Christmas Carol, this movie is a musical adaptation of Dickens’ classic tale and features punchy music and tunes that will leave a lasting impression. This animated film also features the voice talents of Jessie Buckley, Olivia Colman, Luke Evans and Jonathan Pryce. The star-studded cast, the lively sets and the colourful characters bring alive the movie.

Christmas With You (Netflix)
Freddie Prinze Jr. who used to be the king of romcom movies is back in this Christmas drama. This music-filled story follows a pop star named Angelina who has the job of writing a hit Christmas song she is least inclined to do. She gets to know about a young fan who has a Christmas wish to meet her and heads to his small town. She connects with the child’s widowed dad played by Prinze. She finds both love and an excellent muse for a Christmas song.
