Answering why he didn’t apologize to Chris in his acceptance speech, Will said: ‘I was in a daze from that moment. Everything is fuzzy. I contacted Chris and the message that came back is that he is not ready to talk and when he is he will reach out. So I’ll tell you, Chris, I apologize. My behavior was unacceptable. And I’m here when you’re ready to talk. Also Read – Hollywood News Weekly Roundup: Johnny Depp parties with Kate Moss, BTS at the White House, Shakira catches BF cheating and more

Will reiterated that he reacted violently because Chris’ joke referenced the hair loss his wife suffers from a medical condition known as alopecia areata. “I made the choice myself, from my own experience from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with this, sorry honey. I want to apologize to my children and my family. For the heat I’ve brought to all of us,” Will said while answering a question about whether Jada, who was seen on camera rolling her eyes at Chris’ prank, prompted him to take the stage. The Hollywood Reporter also apologized to Chris’ mother, his family and his brother Tony Rock. “It hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know that I don’t live up to people’s image and impression of me. Disappointing people is my main trauma. I hate when I let people down,” he added.

“And the work that I’m trying to do is I’m deeply remorseful and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself. … So I would say to these people, I know it was confusing. I know it was shocking. But I promise you that I am deeply committed and committed to bringing light, love and joy into the world,” Will concluded.

After the slapping incident, Will also took to Instagram to apologize to Chris in March. Post that Will is banned from any Academy event for the next 10 years, including the Oscars. He won Best Actor for King Richard.
