Here’s a look back at this week’s notable fashion and pop-culture moments.

1. Gaurav Gupta unveils Couture 2022 Collection

Gaurav Gupta showcased his Couture 2022 collection ‘Heiress of Dunes’. Drawing inspiration from abstract concepts of ancient cultures, the entire collection is an ode to modern couture designed in absolute hues of white, black, white gold, Nile blue, and snake purple. The collection is a selection of dresses, separates, and gowns that have a youthful aesthetic and are sensual in their sophistication. Heiress of Dune is a culmination of eternal, continuous change, painted against the backdrop of the Nubra valley, the planet’s highest mountain desert.

2. Valentino forays into the Indian market

The most established Italian Maison de Couture has finally made its way to India. In collaboration with Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), Valentino will launch its first boutique in Delhi, followed by a flagship location in Mumbai. The stores will provide a platform for the brand’s entire line of menswear, womenswear, footwear, and accessories. The updated store format will enable brand exposure thanks to the new long-term distribution agreement. The Mumbai flagship will showcase the entire Valentino universe, as opposed to the Delhi Valentino boutique at DLF Emporio, which will only carry women’s collections and a hand-picked assortment of men’s accessories.

3. Naomi Osaka collaborates with Levi’s

Naomi Osaka has partnered up with Levi’s for a Spring/Summer 2022 line in her second significant fashion partnership with the company. Five new pieces from the collection, which debuts online at Levi’s on July 18, are based on personal sketches by Osaka. The assortment of clothing contains contrasting denim for an edgier and more textured look. In all of her sketches, Osaka has focused on unusual dimensions and contrasting denim to leave a personal and never-seen-before mark.

4. Adidas does a collaborative collection featuring Ivy Park

Beyonce’s new album is not the only thing to look forward to. The latest collection created by Adidas and Beyoncé’s Ivy Park, IVYTOPIA, is a journey to find one’s nirvana. The prolific collaboration pushes the limits of sportswear and serves as an inspiration to those who recognize that beauty transcends outward appearance thanks to Beyoncé’s love of design and athletics and Adidas’ performance and creativity. Starting on July 22, 2022, the “IVYTOPIA” collection will be made accessible online and at a few chosen Adidas stores around India.

5. Texas University to offer a dedicated course on Harry Styles

Nothing will remain as it was! The first-ever college course devoted to British pop artist Harry Styles will be offered to students at a university in Texas. Texas State University’s honours program will offer “Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet, and European Pop Culture” in the spring of 2023.
