Two cruise ships MV Arius and MV Gem, each with a capacity to carry more than 800 passengers, are currently docked at the Hambantota International Port (HIP) for month-long layovers. The ship’s crews will remain on board for the period.

“The Hambantota International Port provides the best facilities in the region for all types of vessels of all sizes from small and medium vessels to large tankers. We provide safe berthing, ship and crew security, ship supplies, etc. These types of vessels help raise awareness among shipowners and ship managers of the diverse portfolio of services that HIP can offer,” said Lance Zuo; General Manager, Sales and Marketing.

This service offered by HIP also supports the local communities of Hambantota, who supply fresh produce and other necessities to the ships that are docked. Local service providers registered under the HIP offer a variety of services, ship repairs, refits and other services as needed when ships are on long layovers in port.
