Donald Trump’s tax returns have been released, putting the former president’s finances and business practices firmly in the spotlight as he also faces calls to impeach him in connection with the January 6 riot at the US Capitol.
The House Ways and Means Committee voted to release the documents last week as it revealed that Mr Trump’s taxes had only been audited once in his four years in office – even though annual audits are required .
The release of the tax returns comes after a January 6 House special committee investigating Mr Trump’s role in the Capitol riot released another batch of interview transcripts on Thursday.
The latest edition featured some big names from Trumpworld, including Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle and Stephen Miller.
There are also White House insiders who have turned against Mr Trump, including Stephanie Grisham and Alyssa Farrah Griffin, as well as other key figures including Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Among the revelations, Ms Griffin testified that Jared Kushner personally directed the Biden administration to be excluded from Covid-19 planning after the 2020 election.

Another collection of interview transcripts was released by the House Special Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
The latest edition includes testimony from Ginny Thomas, Eric Hershman, Tony Ornato, Mick Mulvaney, Jared Kushner, Rudy Giuliani and two more interviews with Cassidy Hutchinson.

Former President Donald Trump approvingly shared an article on his Truth Social account claiming that he should make a third-party bid for the presidency if Republicans fail to give him the GOP nomination in the upcoming 2024 election.

With the publicly released transcript of the Democrats’ secret executive session, Americans now have confirmation that there was never any legislative purpose behind the public release of these confidential records and that the IRS was conducting audits prior to the Democrats’ request.
Despite these facts, Democrats rushed forward with an unprecedented decision to unleash a dangerous new political weapon that reaches far beyond the former president, overturning decades of protections for the privacy of ordinary Americans that have existed since Watergate.
Going forward, all future chairmen of both the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee will have almost unlimited power to direct and release the tax returns of citizens, political enemies, business and labor leaders, or even the judges themselves. The Supreme Court.

Six years of Trump tax returns released publicly
Democrats in Congress have released six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns, the culmination of a years-long effort to learn about the finances of a onetime business magnate who broke decades of political norms when he refused to volunteer the information while seeking the White House.
The reports, which include the redaction of some sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers and bank accounts, are from 2015 to 2020. Their release follows a party-line vote in the House Ways and Means Committee last week to release the returns. Democrats on the committee argued that transparency and the rule of law were at risk, while Republicans countered that the exemption would set a dangerous precedent in terms of losing privacy protections.
Trump had refused to release his declarations when he ran for president and had fought a legal battle to keep them secret while in the White House. But the Supreme Court ruled last month that he must turn them over to the Committee on Ways and Means for Tax Writing.
