An industry webinar, in collaboration with Bitdefender, includes insights into the roles and responsibilities of service providers and device manufacturers in the smart home ecosystem to protect consumer privacy

DALLAS, July 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — A Parks Associates survey finds that three out of four Internet households are concerned about the security of their personal data, with more than half saying they are very concerned. The research firm will host the webinar “Protection and Security Strategies for the Always Connected User” On Thursday, July 28in collaboration with Bitdefender, to discuss user concerns about data privacy and security, new ways for service providers and manufacturers to protect their end users, and strategies to do so effectively.

“Although consumers are very concerned about the security of their data, they are very fatalistic on this topic – almost two-thirds of consumers believe that it is impossible to keep data completely secure,” said Jennifer Kent, vice president, research, Parks Associates. “The proliferation of apps and connected devices creates many new avenues for data to leak out of the household, often simply by accident or through an unfixed error, so the pressure is on device manufacturers and ISPs to ensure their solutions maintain high standards in data and security of privacy for the life of their product.”

“As threats are constantly evolving, computer protection alone is no longer sufficient. All your internet-connected devices should also be protected, in addition to protecting the personal business and finances you may conduct online,” said Dan Berte, innovation and IoT, Bitdefender. “Identity theft remains one of the most dire threats, with dangers causing direct damage to personal finances, from opening and using new cards without proper authorisation, draining accounts and reduced credit scores that will affect access to more credit .”

The webinar analyzes new threats emerging for the always-connected consumer, including the scope of threats, as households adopt more and more connected devices and always-on apps. Executives will share user data and privacy protection strategies and best practices to ensure the security of their solutions.
