Canadian superstar Yash has become a pan-Indian star with his action-packed avatar as Rocky Bhai in Prashanth Neel directorial franchise KGF. Both KGF Chapter 1 and KGF Chapter 2 were action packed and the audience showered their love and appreciation equally. As southern films gain momentum in the northern regions, Yash narrated how people from the north make fun of southern films.
At the India Today conclave, Yash said that ten years ago, dubbed South films became quite popular in North India. But initially people started looking at them from a different perspective and had different opinions. “People made fun of South movies. They were like ‘yeh kya action hai, udd raha hai sab’ (what is this action? everything is flying!)” he said at the event.
He further added that eventually people got addicted to watching south movies and started understanding this art form. However, the main problem with south movies was that they were sold at a minimal price and were dubbed in poor quality and presented in a bad way with funny names.
Yash credits SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and his own KGF franchise with changing people’s perspective on southern films. He said that Baahubali gave the much needed boost and it broke the barriers between North and South. He added that people have already started noticing south films which was long overdue.
After the huge success of KGF 1 and KGF 2, Yash will once again reprise his role as Rocky Bhai in KGF 3. The end credits scene of KGF 2 also teased the audience about the 3rd installment of the franchise. However, Yash is really reluctant to start working on KGF 3 as he wants to try his hands at something else, as of now.
