These Celebrities Embrace Their Age

[ad_1]

The common moniker that “age is nothing but a number” is not as appreciated in showbiz as it is in other industries in the world.

In Hollywood, actors are often seen to lose some value as they grow older, and they may no longer attract the kind of jobs that they once did. Stars like Tom Cruise – who appear to never age – are perceived as a special breed, and celebrated for it. Pharrell Williams is also one of those who are seemingly ageless, as are Gabrielle Union, Bianca Lawson and Beyoncé.

On the other end of that spectrum are celebrities who have found themselves being maligned for their age. Rapper 50 Cent got into a feud with Madonna last year, for instance, as he took aim at her age despite the fact that he is starting to get on in years himself.

In the midst of all this furor is a unique group of stars who have gladly embraced their age.

THETHINGS VIDEO OF THE DAY

8/8 Brad Pitt (58 Years Old)

Brad Pitt is one and a half years shy of his 60th birthday. Despite this, the actor is feeling as comfortable in his skin as he ever has.

While launching a genderless skincare line recently, he told Vogue, “I don’t want to be running from aging. It’s a concept we can’t escape, and I would like to see our culture embracing it a bit more.”

7/8 Naomi Campbell (52 Years Old)

The modeling industry is even harder on its aging members than Hollywood. Naomi Campbell is defying this norm by embracing less make-up as she grows older.

“As you get older, less is best – and it’s better to have a hydrated face, as opposed to a matte base,” Campbell said in her own Vogue interview in June.

6/8 Sarah Jessica Parker (57 Years Old)

In the last few years, fans have been commenting on Sarah Jessica Parker’s hair, as it started to grey out. She finally had enough of that and called people out for it, while also explaining how she deals with growing older.

“How best to feel like yourself is the thing I’ve probably spent more time thinking about than I have beauty or aging, because there’s just simply not a lot I can do about it,” Parker explained in an interview with Bustle.

5/8 Samuel L. Jackson (73 Years Old)

Marvel star Samuel L. Jackson is already growing well into his 70s. He recently starred in a miniseries titled The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, about an old man living with dementia.

Although the character he plays is 91 years old, Jackson later revealed that he identified a lot with him. “I’m getting older every day,” he said. “I know a lot about getting old! I have been around for a while.”

4/8 Reese Witherspoon (46 Years Old)

Reese Witherspoon is not as old as most of the people in this list, but at the same time, she definitely isn’t the springy teenager who kicked off her acting career in the 1991 movie The Man in the Moon.

To The Morning Show star, her age is a pro, not a con, “I’m 45. I know who I want to spend time with and whoI don’t,” she told InStyle Magazine last November, per Prevention.com. “That is one of the great things about getting older — it just clears out so much space.”

3/8 Ringo Starr (82 Years Old)

Ringo Starr has been around the block and seen it all. The former Beatles drummer turned 82 in July, but he is insistent that he will continue making music for as long as his body allows it.

“As long as I can hold the sticks, [I] can go on forever; it’s something you don’t have to retire from,” he was once quoted saying by Forbes.

2/8 Halle Berry (56 Years Old)

Even at the age of 56, Halle Berry remains “the most beautiful woman in the world” in the eyes of many. Not that it matters that much to her.

Speaking to AARP about her life and career, Berry said, “I see things changing with my face and body, but I’ve never put all my eggs in that basket. I’ve always known that beauty is deeper than the physical body you’re walking around in.”

1/8 Meryl Streep (73 Years Old)

Meryl Streep is one of the best actresses alive. In fact, the argument is often made that no one in Hollywood is more accomplished than she is. At the age of 73, she is now looking at life through a much more grateful lens.

“You have to embrace getting older,” she told Sixty and Me a few years back. “LIFE is precious, and when you have lost a lot of people, you realize that each day is a gift.”
