On its way to finally airing the complicated season 4 finale as part of season 5, FBI there’s another intense case on the way. The October 11 episode will see OA trying to balance investigating some brutal attacks with his own traumatic event…which he tries to hide from his fellow agents. Star Zeeko Zaki spoke to CinemaBlend to find out what’s to come and why the new episode will be a must-watch FBI fans.
Episode from October 11 FBI is called “Victim” and OA will have more on his plate than usual after being mugged the morning before the team catches the case of brutal assaults. He chooses to withhold information about what happened to him, and while fans will have to wait and see the consequences, Zeeko Zaki talked about the decisions his character makes when he’s on the other side of a crime this time.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, he shared what motivates OA not to talk about his fellow agents:
I think it’s an exciting moment for the audience to witness something that happens very personally to one of the characters and then show the balance that all the agents try to do to keep their personal stuff out of the work. Our work deals with people’s very private lives, and it’s an exciting opportunity to see how we succeed or fail to blend agents’ personal lives, especially when it comes to traumatic events that have the right to affect someone’s work.
FBI is largely a procedural show that keeps the action moving from case to case each week, but Victim will also focus on the OA character a lot more than usual. OA has personally fought some notable cases in the past, such as when he was caused by a crime involving sarin gas just last season (which ended badly for Maggie to explain Missy Peregrym’s maternity leave).
Still, being attacked and then being investigated is something he hasn’t had to deal with, and even the OA might not be able to prevent personal trauma from, as Zacky put it, having ‘the power to influence’ of his work. The actor went on to share the kind of support his character gets (or doesn’t get) from the rest of the team while trying to keep information from them:
The funny part is that these agents are, no matter what, the best of the best. All of our characters stay so strong in their jobs, which is really exciting, and for me, it’s one thing to have the mystery around these people, whether or not I know they’re aware. But it’s really fun to play personal stuff when we’re in the characters, and I think it’s more fun for the other characters as well. Episodes like this just give us a whole different layer to play with, and it’s one of those layers that you kind of just check out for yourself. If it felt real, then it will play real. So it sure is a fun layer to sprinkle on top.
The main unit of agents of FBI changed after Maggie’s exposure to sarin gas and the arrival of Nina Chase to fill the void, but they are no less capable with Nina on board unlike Maggie. In fact, as the “best of the best,” they may be more aware that something is wrong with OA than he realizes as he deals with his trauma. There are some new layers we’re looking forward to seeing in Sacrifice. When I asked Zeeko Zaki if it’s hard for a character to keep a huge secret to themselves when working with a crack team of investigators, he replied:
Right, right! It is, and I think it’s a really fun end of the spectrum to play. Keeping a secret from a team of investigators really shows how no matter what circles you’re in or no matter what your work environment is, when we get into these stubborn, frustrating positions of “I know what’s best,” they’re in every level.
It appears that the OA may not be able to prevent his colleagues and friends from knowing that something is wrong with him as they know him as a friend and fellow agent. Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen, and Zaki shared that his character will lose control during the episode. The actor visualizes:
I think the lesson is that you just have to look around and see what your support system is and really honor that you wouldn’t have landed in a place with that kind of support system if it wasn’t real. OA is just trying to achieve a perfect game and wants to put these messes behind her, especially with her partner. So I think it’s just fun to see him lose control for a little bit.
OA Potentially Losing Control comes just one week after the Season 4 finale, released as part of Season 5, and showed Jubal himself losing a bit of control due to his son’s involvement in a terrifying case. The fifth season also began with an episode so explosive that changed OA priorities, and the intensity doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Plus, Zeeko Zaki has already shared why fans should be excited about the return of Missy Peregrym as Maggieso there is something to look forward to.
