He is hospitalized in a private hospital in Kochi. Siddique died on Tuesday at 9 pm. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. He reportedly suffered from pneumonia and liver disease. The director of Salman Khan’s Bodyguard has passed away
A report in an entertainment news portal states that Siddique Ismail survived with the help of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Siddiq Ismail was undergoing treatment for pneumonia and liver-related ailments. Although recovering from treatment, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died. This is extremely shocking and tragic. The death has been confirmed by the hospital authorities, a Matrubhumi release shared.
Who is Siddique?
Siddiqui works as a screenwriter, actor, director and producer. He has mostly worked in the Malayalam industry. According to reports, he started working in the industry as a mime artist. He directed his first film Ramji Rao Speaking in 1989. It was a co-directorship with Lal, with whom he collaborated for several more films. However, the duo parted ways in the 1990s. Lal started acting and producing films while Siddique started directing after flying solo.
Claim to fame as a bodyguard
Siddique directed Bodyguard starring Nayanthara and Dileep. It was a huge success and was remade in Hindi and Tamil. He directed Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the Hindi version, while he directed Thalapathy Vijay and Asin in the Tamil version. His last film was an action thriller called Big Brother, a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal with Arbaaz Khan, Anoop Menon, Vishnu Unnikrishnan and others. The movie was released in 2020.
When the Hindi version of Bodyguard was released, it minted around Rs 21 crore on Day 1. The lifetime collection of Bodyguard Hindi was Rs 148 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama report. The film won 17 awards that year. Himesh Reshammiya collaborates with Salman Khan after 6 years. The album was a huge hit with fans. It appeared in 2250 screens in 70 Indian cities and with 482 prints in the overseas territory.
Siddique is survived by his wife Sajitha and three children. Rest in peace, Siddiq.
