“The Big Sur” – Porsche 911 930 by Singer Vehicle Design

Singer Vehicle Design is a popular name among Porsche purists and automotive enthusiasts. He is well known for restoring or modifying old Porsches back to their factory condition without compromising on every aspect – improving components, bringing them in line with modern times and preserving the original chassis of the old car.

Big Sur is the company’s latest iteration, modifying a throwback Porsche 930 911, adding extra touches to make the old Porsche experience quite enjoyable, causing its stigma to crumble with age, and making it the ultimate Porsche for the driver.

The Big Sur is the latest homage to the 911 930 with an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat six with 450 horsepower mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is rear wheel drive like the 930 and most of the things done to the car are aimed at making the car more athletic with driver comfort and ease of handling in mind.

The exterior features an iconic horizontal blue color that also runs through the interior with Singer cognac stripes also running down the middle of the car’s exterior. Behind the flared flares, the car also features iconic Singer wheels with an upgraded original 930 design wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

The interior of the car has received the most notable update. The entire interior is wrapped in leather in the special color Singer Cognac, the bucket seats are made by Recaro, which are also four-way adjustable; inside a 930 911, a car from the 70s. The dashboard layout has been kept quite similar to the original model, except for the steering wheel, which has been upgraded and wrapped in leather. The enclosed manual shifter has been redesigned and moved back to make shifting more comfortable.

Although the Big Sur has upgraded updated peripherals, everything comes at a price. Starting with a hefty price tag of over $475,000, it’s definitely not easy to get your hands on one of the limited edition Big Surs that will be released. Overall, Singer Vehicle Design Porsches retain a great deal of heritage stigma and remain one of the most desired cars by both purists and automotive enthusiasts alike.
