Talafi Vijay and Rashmika Mandana lead Varisu hit theaters on January 11, 2023. The film received rave reviews with fans of both the stars calling it a blockbuster. He clashed with Ajith Kumar and Manju Warrier’s film Thunivu. Despite tough competition, it managed to do quite well at the box office. However, the film seems to be facing trouble in Karnataka. According to reports, Varisu’s shows have been canceled in Karnataka. I know why.
Why were the Varisu shows cancelled?
According to a report in News18, Varisu shows have gone down in Bengaluru in large numbers. From 757 screenings on the first day, the screenings fell to 466 on the second day. If speculations are to be believed, Rashmika Mandana is partly responsible for the same as it is being speculated that her previous comments may have affected Varisu’s box office in Karnataka.
Rashmika Mandana and Kantara star Rishabh Shetty’s break-up has been a hot topic of discussion. It all started with Rashmika Mandana stating that she had not watched Kantara. She received backlash for the same as Kantara is one of the highly rated movies. Later, a video also surfaced in which Rashmika did not name the production house that launched her. She made her debut with Kirik Party which starred Rakshit Shetty and others and was directed by Rishabh. When the film turned six years old, Rishabh Shetty even shared a throwback picture to celebrate but didn’t tag Rashmika Mandana.
Earlier, Rashmika Mandana spoke about a ban in Kannada cinema. She was quoted as saying: “I don’t think they were banned. People started to overreact. When I was asked about Kantara, it was only two days since release. It depends on people how they will understand my words. I can’t keep explaining it to everyone. And I am ready to work in Kannada cinema if I get offers.” She also mentioned that she watched Kantara and even sent a message to the team.
