Noted filmmaker SS Chakravarthy, renowned for supporting Ajith Kumar’s films, passed away on Saturday, that is today, due to a long-term illness. He passed away while receiving medical care at a private hospital in Chennai. The producer’s last rituals would be performed in Chennai.
S. Shajahan Chakravarthy was an Indian film producer in Tamil cinema. He had produced several Tamil films through his production company, NIC Arts. Most of his films starred actors Ajith Kumar & Silambarasan. Nine of the approximately 14 films he produced starred actor Ajith Kumar. He began working with the lead actor on “Raasi” in 1997 and continued with “Vaali,” “Mugavaree,” “Citizen,” “Red,” and “Villain.” He worked on three more films with Ajith after ‘Kadhal Sadugudu’ (2003) with Vikram, including ‘Anjaneya’, ‘Ji’, and ‘Varalaru’. His previous films include “Vaalu,” “Kaalai,” “Renigunta,” and “18 Vayasu.”

Additionally, he used his production company to launch his son into the movie business. Johnny, also known as Imran Chakravarthy, the producer’s son, made his acting debut in Renigunta, which he also produced. The following movie, 18 Vayasu, was likewise supported by him. Shakeel Nila Chakravarthy, his daughter, was also a part of the movie.
SS Chakravarthy made his debut as an actor with the film titled ‘Thoppi’ in the year 2015. He also starred in the recently-released web series “Vilangu,” which also starred Vemal and Ineya. He portrayed a police officer.
