Hurrah! Spring has sprung, which means it is time to bid farewell to those bulky winter coats and embrace the season of soaring hemlines and flirty florals. Whether meandering through a blooming garden or attending a refined evening soirée, a wardrobe overhaul is a must as temperatures begin to rise.
Stuck for spring fashion inspiration? Look no further than Letizia, the achingly chic queen of Spain, who – thanks to the country’s more mild weather – is already leading the sartorial stakes with her cheerful colour-blocking, vibrant power suits and delightfully retro prints. Earlier this week, the 50-year-old former journalist looked like a walking tropical flower in a matching coral blouse and leather skirt ensemble from go-to label Boss. Demonstrating her ability to balance brights with understated neutrals, Queen Letizia finished the look with a pair of demure pumps by Carolina Herrera.
Both Boss and Herrera are staples for the Spanish queen, who, like so many royals, has labels she returns to again and again (see: the Princess of Wales in Alexander McQueen). But, unlike many of her European counterparts, Letizia will just as often step out in head-to-toe High Street. When she does, it is almost always either Zara or Massimo Dutti – both owned by Spanish fashion giant Inditex.
Queen Letizia will soon bring her personal brand of pared-back elegance to London when she joins her husband – the tall, dark and handsome King Felipe VI of Spain – at the Coronation of King Charles III. The dress code has yet to be revealed, but Letizia will undoubtedly stand out among the congregation at Westminster Abbey. Until then, indulge your sartorial curiosity and read on to discover her best spring fashion looks of the season so far.
